Fire Safety

Legislation Concerning Fire Safety Fire hazards concerns not only your employees, but also your entire company and its surroundings. Incidents in Volendam, Schiphol, and Enschede have made the authorities, businesses, and the general public vastly aware of the need for fire safety.
In addition to the Working Conditions Act, there are three laws governing fire safety. - The Fire Department Act creates mandates from a public safety point of view. - The Residence Act mandates that building structures are built to be fire safe (via the Building Decree) and used safely to avoid fire hazards (Via the district building codes). - The Nature Conservation Act prevents danger, damage, or hindrance to the outdoors. The requirements are specified in the nature permit by the proper authority for each establishment.
In Practice: You Have To Do It In practice, since the laws only define the frames, you as the employer are the one who has to “get your hands and knees dirty” to ensure fire safety. A much used method begins with risk assessment, a plan of action, the execution of control measures, and evaluation. Within the latter, policy-minded attention must be drawn towards prevention, preparation, and suppression. The requirements for in-house emergency and first aid service EFS and evacuation also stem from this. In short, fire safety requires that you have a structural and professional approach.
